Cheers to Jason Latham aka "JLay" from Golden Isles, Georgia! JLay sent over his info while traveling home from the Santa Cruz and San Francisco area where he was competing in the Santa Cruz PaddleFest. He had a solid two wave heat on Saturday but not enough to make the semi's but walked away with valuable lessons learned for next time, and was fully stoked to catch a few really good waves at Steamer Lane with only 3 others in the heat! Latham says, "Surf magazines were in a sense, all I had, growing up in rural South Georgia to keep my stoke and water connection strong. (Aside from the occasional beach trip on the weekends). I would always look forward to getting a new issue of surfing/surfer magazine and I would read them forward and back multiple times and felt it got me through times when the water wasn’t directly accessible. So in a huge way, the inspiration I gained from stories and beautiful photographs in print magazines led the way for chasing my dreams to this day and this feature in Session magazine is literally a full circle moment of fulfilling a childhood dream! I love Session magazine because it combines all my favorite watersports into one action packed and inspiring piece of beautiful art. It keeps me stoked and motivated to keep pursuing the sports I love and bring out my personal best!" Thanks for the support JLay and we hope to see you on the water this season.
