Kahi Pacarro, an O'ahu resident and Session Magazine subscriber, now spends most of his time on a foil. As a team rider for Lift Foils and Majek808, Kahi is grateful for the longevity of performance that foiling offers. He began longboarding at 16, transitioned to shortboards at 20, and developed an early love for snowboarding that fueled his passion for harnessing the powers of nature. While in college in the early 2000s, he explored alternative crafts by testing Jeff McCallum’s creations during Jeff’s early years as a shaper. This open-minded approach continued when he discovered the ala'ia, which he took around the world to pioneer possibilities at waves like Jeffrey’s Bay, Keramas, and DI Point. Back home at Makaha, he won three consecutive Buffalo Big Board Classic Ala'ia divisions.

During a 2014 trip to Lakey Peak, Kahi watched kitesurfers getting barreled in otherwise un-surfable waves and decided to learn the discipline. Two years and a few "kitemares" later, Zane Schweitzer introduced him to foiling. He was immediately hooked. With a diverse background in ocean sports and snowboarding, his progression in foiling was rapid. Sponsorships followed, and he now continues to push the limits of foil surfing, downwinding, and tow foiling.

On land, Kahi is a proud husband and father, serves as the Hawaii Director for Parley for the Oceans, and is currently campaigning to become the Representative for District 19 in the House of Representatives. You can find him on Instagram @instakahi.

Kahi says, "The diversity of Sessions magazine provides a mix of nostalgia and cutting edge content. I'm grateful the craft of print still remains and I'll continue to support Sessions while encouraging others too as well."
